Is hollywood running out of ideas?

If you've been watching the movie industry closely, you’d certainly realize that writers are running out of ideas. This can be largely proved through the many remakes that have been in production or in theatrical releases. Such titles are: The Lion King and Titanic, which will be released later on. It seems that all they care about is making money and not making improvements to the entertainment industry for future generations. The second proof would be silliness of the new story lines. Nowadays, it’s hard to find a good complete script, with a smart or nice story, that is because they have been taken by previous moviemakers.

This question has always bugged me

Average movie usually are budgeted for around 20 million dollars, and some are as high as 250 million ( Spider Man 3 and King Kong). The case and crew consist of around 1000 people ( Some go as high as Avatar ( 3000 people). It is worked by the best technologies available and provided with all the resources to make a movie perfect. Movies' background goal is to make it seem as real as possible, so my question is: Why is there so many movie mistakes and goofs? Take the best director of all time, Steven Spielberg, even his movies have goofs. The most frequent types are :

-        Appearance of camera man in glass, or mirror, or even in at far end of the picture.

-        Difference in scenes. For example: A person might be drinking coffee; on the first shot, the cup is full, in the second, it’s emptied, then it’s back to full in the third.

-        Reality errors: If the movie is in the past, they might use some products that weren’t available back then.

Those are the most obvious and most popular goofs; I know they’re not on purpose, but I think 3 months of Editing/Post-production, at least, would make them less obvious.

Here are the movies with the largest number of goofs

 1 Apocalypse Now 394

2 Superman IV: The Quest for Peace 332

In Time: Is it actually worth the time ?

A new movie is released in town, and people are rushing to watch it. It didn't have a lot of marketing, the actors are marketers enough. The lead stars are Justin Timberlake (Social Network, Friends with Benefits), and Amanda Seyfriend (Dear John) and Cillian Murphy (Red Eye ).

PLOT: In a future where people stop aging at 25, but are engineered to live only one more year, having the means to buy your way out of the situation is a shot at immortal youth. Here, Will Salas finds himself accused of murder and on the run with a hostage - a connection that becomes an important part of the way against the system.

Interesting Fact:

Olivia Wilde, who plays Timberlake's mother in the movie, is actually younger than him in reality.

The Lion King is back !

Dear reader,

You're at least 12 years old since you're reading my blog, and you've definitely lived you childhood. And I assure you that Lion King has a big part of it, and not one person haven't seen it in their young ages.

I thought this was my favorite movie because it was the only one back then. But then I watched it this week on the big screen and realised that it's not a children's movie at all. This movie is a perfect from every way, and it remains to be on my favorite movie's list.

Lion King is Disney's 32nd animated movie, produced in 1994. It was screened 3 times; the first was in 1994, then in 2002 and finally 2011.

Disney has been known to spoil children indirectly through subliminal messages which appear in various animated movies, and Lion King is mostly known for one:

"There have been rumors that when Simba collapses on the cliff after talking with Timon and Pumbaa about stars, the dust that flies off the cliff forms the letters SEX. In fact it forms the letters SFX, the abbreviation of the special-effects team that worked on that portion of the film. This scene was deleted in the 2011 release." (IMDB goofs)

Now this is only a rumor, and we can't make sure that it's true because it's not so clear to notice the letters.

Anyways here's a short video on Disney's subliminal messages.

Enjoy it

Perception

Movies nowadays are, if not one of, the biggest source of entertainment worldwide. Each day, hundreds of movies come out, whether produced in Hollywood, Bollywood or some other foreign movie production site. Some are independent and low budgeted as low as $10,000 such as paranormal activity, and some are extremely high budgeted as much as $250 Million, such as Spider Man 3.

Each and every one of you, dear readers, percieve a movie differently. Each individual is watching the movie for his own purpose searching for his own interests.

The process of making a movie consists of 3 major steps, pre-production then production and finally post-production. When I watch a movie, the process seems a lot like making a movie.

Pre-production: I check out random information about the movie, just to know what I'll be spending 2 hours on.

Production: While watching the movie, I'll be scrutinizing every little bit of each second that passes. Mostly, I'll be trying to find something that interests me such as identifying movie goofs(mistakes done by directors), identifying background music, analyzing how the scene was filmed...

Post-production: After I'm done with the movie, I visit imdb.com and complete my full knowledge of the subject.

In this blog, I'll be sharing with you reviews, top tens, movie mistakes and many other items related to the movie experience.

So come aboard on our plane, and watch the movie from above; trust me, it's a whole different experience.

This is my first post in Posterous. I hope my subjects interest you..
